To a worldwide audience he continues to show his dedication to music as an exceptional DJ, an accomplished musician, and an explosive producer. Currently, he is the only producer in the world chosen to release EP’s on both Mark Farina and DJ Heather’s labels. He has also been featured on Mark Farina’s respected Mushroom Jazz series. Along with these unique accomplishments, Derek has been enlisted to complete remixes for the Four Tops and Parliament Funkadelic, and somehow, despite this busy compositional schedule, he has still found time to release tracks on a number of House Music’s most elite labels including: Large, Amenti, Blackcherry, Great Lakes Audio and Dufflebag. His list of accomplishments only scratches the surface of what he has planned for the musical realm.

Derek’s musical spectrum ranges from hip-hop and soulful downtempo to his signature underground house grooves… leaving room for everything else in between. His distinct style is heavily influe nced by his unique musical upbringing. Growing up, he was continuously enveloped by a unique musical exposure due to the accomplished career of his father. At an early age, Derek would watch his father compose on the piano as he created sounds for the likes of Freda Payne, Chairman of the Board and Parliament Funkadelic. As early as 4 years old Derek decided it was time get his hands dirty as he began to learn piano, trumpet and later guitar, bass and drums. Considering himself a DJ first, Derek’s quest for sonic perfection behind the decks transcends the mark of your everyday selector. This commitment allows him to show the world his passion, knowledge and mastery of this thing we call House.
